Christopher R. Sebald, CFA Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer

As Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer of Advantus, Chris is responsible for outside asset management and support services. In addition to his duties regarding Fixed Income Total Return portfolio management, Chris also oversees the REIT/Equity, Marketing and Institutional Sales teams. Active in the investment industry since 1988, his background includes all aspects of investment strategy and management.

In addition to positions with other major investment management firms, Chris previously worked with Advantus Capital Management from 1992 through 1997 as a Senior Investment Officer, analyzing securities for total return and insurance accounts. At that time, he focused on public and private mortgage securities, asset-backed securities and other structured investments.

Chris is a CFA Charterholder, and a member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society of Minnesota.
